Roy Z (gitarzysta i producent wydawnictw Bruce’a Dickinsona) powiedział, że muzyka Flor De Loto jest jak spotkanie Iron Maiden i Jethro Tull w ruinach Machu Picchu. Bez cienia wątpliwości jest w tym sporo prawdy, ale znajdziemy w ich dziełach i pierwiastek oryginalności. Brzmi zachęcająco? Poniżej kilka słów o najnowszej produkcji zespołu pod tytułem “Lines of Nasca”.

"Kwiat Lotosu", jak należałoby tłumaczyć nazwę na język polski, to pochodząca z Peru pięcioosobowa formacja płynąca z nurtem progresywnego rocka od 1998 roku. I mimo że w naszym kraju jest o niej dość cicho (to błąd!), to dla kojarzących ją najświeższa produkcja = must listen. Dzięki poznańskiemu wydawnictwu OSKAR Records słuchacze mają możliwość kupić płytę na fizycznym nośniku. Cieszy niezmiernie, że takie dźwięki docierają do nas z odległych zakątków ziemi, i że chcemy je promować. Ciekawostką jest również fakt, że ten album celebruje dwie i pół dekady muzycznej przygody zespołu, i co więcej - wszystkie teksty po raz pierwszy zostały napisane w języku angielskim.

Ale do brzegu.

“Lines of Nasca” można by scharakteryzować jako amalgamat progresywnego klimatu, czystego i precyzyjnego wokalu (a nawet kilku), inteligentnej sekcji fletu i nade wszystko - przemyślanej i dobrze zaaranżowanej produkcji, której przewodzi wspomniany wyżej Roy Z. W tworzeniu materiału wzięli też udział znani goście: Fabio Lione (Rhapsody of Fire), a także Douglas "Doogie" White (ex-Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow, Alcatrazz). Na trackliście znalazło się osiem pozycji, lecz trudno jednoznacznie wytypować najlepszy utwór, bo w każdym kryją się perełki. "Afraid to Shoot Strangers" (cover Iron Maiden) za sprawą dodanej linii fletu nie przejdzie niezauważony. "Slave to Your Soul" to kompozycja z powolnym wstępem, ale bardzo chwytliwymi riffami, które cumują w pamięci na dłużej. Na uwagę zasługuje również wypełniony po brzegi dźwiękami syntezatorów instrumentalny “Nasca Lines”. Jest on dobrym przykładem, że prog-rock to nie tylko suity i gitarowe solówki trwające dekady, ale też krótsze kwieciste formy. Z kolei "Regression" przyciąga wokalem Fabio Lionego i to na nim najbardziej koncentruje się ucho. Świetnie dopasowana osoba z mikrofonem do muzycznego płótna.

Flor De Loto swoim najnowszym krążkiem udowadnia, że w Ameryce Południowej rockowa muzyka progresywna ma się doskonale i tętni życiem. Pokazuje również chęć eksperymentowania i zabawy z formą, dodając do stałych elementów nieoczekiwane pierwiastki. Uwierzcie - “Afraid To Shoot Strangers” z fletem brzmi bardzo dobrze. Myślę, że fanom Iana Andersona i Bruce’a Dickinsona ten krążek przypadnie do gustu, wszak nie co dzień słyszy się taki mariaż

Roy Z (guitarist and producer of Bruce Dickinson's releases) once said that Flor De Loto's music is like

Iron Maiden and Jethro Tull meeting in the ruins of Machu Picchu. Without a shadow of a doubt, there

is a lot of truth in this, but you will also find an element of originality in their work. Sounds nice, huh?

Here are a few words about the band's latest production entitled "Lines of Nasca".

"Blossom of the Lotus", as the name should be translated into English, is a five-member band from

Peru that has been flowing with the progressive rock current since 1998. And even though this band

is not the most popular one, for those who associate with it, the latest production equals a must

listen. Thanks to the Poznań-based label OSKAR Records, listeners will have the opportunity to buy

the album on a CD. It is extremely gratifying that such sounds reach us from the far corners of the

earth, and that there are people willing to promote them. Also interesting to note is that this album

celebrates two and a half decades of the band's musical adventure, and what's more, all the lyrics

were written in English for the first time.

Now let’s talk a bit about the music.

"Lines of Nasca" could be characterized as an amalgam of progressive atmospheres, clean and

precise vocals (or even several), an intelligent flute section and above all - a thoughtful and well-

arranged production, led by the aforementioned Roy Z. Well-known guests also participated in the

creation of the material: Fabio Lione (Rhapsody of Fire), and Douglas "Doogie" White (ex-Ritchie

Blackmore's Rainbow, Alcatrazz).

There are eight tracks on the album, but it is difficult to unequivocally pick out the best track, as there

are gems hidden in each. "Afraid to Shoot Strangers” (Iron Maiden cover) for sure will not go

unnoticed due to the added flute line. "Slave to Your Soul" is a composition with a slow introduction,

but very catchy riffs that moor in the memory for longer. Also noteworthy is the synth-filled

instrumental 'Nasca Lines'. It is a good example that prog-rock is not only about suites and guitar

solos lasting decades, but also shorter flowery forms. 'Regression', on the other hand, draws you in

with Fabio Lione vocals, and it's on him that your ear is most focused. A brilliantly suited person with

a microphone to a musical canvas.

With its latest album, Flor De Loto proves that progressive rock music is alive and in good shape in

South America. It also shows a willingness to experiment and play with the forms, adding unexpected

elements to the regular box. Believe me guys - “Afraid To Shoot Strangers” with flute sounds

extremely good. I am sure fans of Ian Anderson and Bruce Dickinson will enjoy this stuff, after all, it's

not every day you hear of such a marriage.
